He represented England at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2012, earning 47 caps and scoring eight goals. Walcott developed through the Southampton Academy and began his career at Southampton before transferring to Arsenal for £5 million in 2006. Known for his speed and crossing ability, manager Arsène Wenger primarily used him on the wing throughout most of his career. Starting from the 2012–13 season, Walcott played as a striker and was Arsenal’s top scorer, accumulating over 100 goals for the club. Walcott was born in Stanmore, London, to a black British Jamaican father and a white English mother, and he grew up in Compton, Berkshire. He attended Compton Church of England Primary School and The Downs School. As a child, he was a Liverpool fan, influenced by his father’s support for the team.
