Reid grew up in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and attended Roselle Catholic High School. In his senior season, he averaged 14.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game, earning an invitation to the 2018 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game. During the game, he scored 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and recorded two assists and one block in 20 minutes of play. Reid notably scored 22 points to help Roselle Catholic defeat Don Bosco Prep in the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions. He was also a member of the Jelly Fam, an internet movement known for flashy finger roll layups, earning him the nickname “Big Jelly.” He stands out as the only member of this movement to reach the NBA.
