High School Career
Mitchell Robinson started his high school journey at Pine Forest High School in Pensacola, Florida, before briefly transferring to Landry-Walker College and Career Preparatory High School in New Orleans as a sophomore, where he did not compete. He played for Pine Forest during his freshman and sophomore years but didn’t make a significant impact at that time, as he only began playing basketball in eighth grade after a growth spurt that saw him rise from 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) to 7 ft 0 in (2.13 m).
Before his junior year, Robinson participated in summer league games for Chalmette High School. During his junior season, he led the Owls to their first state playoff win in 19 years and pushed the eventual state champion Natchitoches Central High School to the brink in the second round, which turned out to be their closest playoff game until the finals. Robinson averaged impressive stats of 20.9 points, 13.6 rebounds, 8.1 blocks, and 2 steals per game, earning spots on the all-district, all-Metro, and all-State teams. He then joined Nike Pro Skills in Dallas for the AAU circuit, where he excelled in the Nike EYBL, helping his team reach the Peach Jam and earning individual accolades.
