Lock attended Lee’s Summit High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. In his junior year, he threw for 3,060 yards and 35 touchdowns. As a senior in 2014, he earned the title of All-Metro Player of the Year from the Kansas City Star, completing 2,731 passing yards and 28 touchdowns. Rivals rated him as a four-star recruit and ranked him as the sixth-best pro-style quarterback in the 2015 class. He committed to the University of Missouri to play college football. Additionally, Lock was considered a two-star basketball prospect as a shooting guard but chose to focus solely on football after high school.
