D. L. Hughley Biography- American actor and stand-up comedian Darryl Lynn Hughley (/ˈhjuːɡliː/; born March 6, 1963) is a performer. As the original presenter of BET’s ComicView from 1992 to 1993, the name Hughley from the ABC/UPN sitcom The Hughleys, and one of the “Big Four” comedians from The Original Kings of Comedy, Hughley is most renowned for these roles. In addition, he has hosted D. L. Hughley Breaks the News on CNN, worked as a journalist for NBC’s The Jay Leno Show, and hosted radio shows in New York City at the local level. D. L. Hughley finished Dancing with the Stars in ninth place at the beginning of 2013.

Out of four children, Hughley is the second. His mother worked as a homemaker, and his father was employed in aviation maintenance. He was a member of the Bloods gang after being expelled from high school and growing up in South Central, Los Angeles. Still, after a cousin was shot, he changed his life. Upon leaving the gang, he secured a position as a telemarketer at the Los Angeles Times, where he advanced to management and eventually met his future spouse. It was she who persuaded him to take his comedy onstage. Following many years of going out on dates, he was chosen by BET to be the first host of “Comic View” and went on to receive more acclaim from two highly adult-focused HBO specials.

Early life
The son of Audrey and Charles Hughley, a maintenance worker for Delta Air Lines, Hughley was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. He is one of four children, ranked second. Hughley was raised in South Central Los Angeles and barely spent two months in Portsmouth before his family relocated. Hughley had a difficult time growing up because he was kicked out of San Pedro High School and joined the infamous Bloods street gang. But in the end, he gave up on gang life, earned his GED, and found a job at the Los Angeles Times.

Career
Hughley was the first host of ComicView, the stand-up comedy show on BET, from 1992 to 1993. He also had an appearance in the third season of Fresh Prince of Bel Air in 1993, as Philadelphia comedian Keith Campbell, a friend of Will’s. He created, produced, and starred in the sitcom series The Hughleys on television from 1998 to 2002. The show was based on his actual experiences growing up in an affluent neighborhood with his African-American family.
In 2005, he debuted his stand-up comedy album “D.L. Hughley: Notes From The GED Section” and hosted Weekends at the D.L., a brief chat program on Comedy Central. In addition to being a part of The Original Kings of Comedy, he has been on NBC’s. Scrubs is the brother of Turk. He hosted the BET Awards in the year 2008. He also made a moving speech during the eulogy at the funeral of Bernie Mac, a fellow King of Comedy and one of his closest friends.

Ryan and Tyler, two daughters, and Kyle, a son, are the children of Hughley and his wife LaDonna. Hughley has had multiple conversations about his son’s Asperger condition. Hughley discussed having an affair early in his marriage and career in an interview that he did on November 9, 2017, for Angela Yee’s Lipservice podcast. His mistress got pregnant, gave birth to a son, and the baby’s mother’s boyfriend killed him by shaking him to death. Exhaustion was listed as the cause of Hughley’s collapse on June 19, 2020, while he was performing at a club in Nashville, Tennessee. His COVID-19 result was confirmed by additional testing. Hughley joined the fraternity Omega Psi Phi on July 30, 2020, and was initiated as an honorary member.
