Early years
On December 6, 1994, Shreyas Iyer was born in Chembur, Bombay (Mumbai). His mother Rohini Iyer is a Tuluva, and his father Santosh Iyer is from Tamilia. His lineage dates back to Kerala’s Thrissur. He received his education at Ramniranjan Anandilal Podar College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai and Don Bosco High School in Matunga. Coach Pravin Amre noticed 18-year-old Iyer at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana. When he first started playing cricket, Amre trained him. Iyer was once compared to Virender Sehwag by his age group peers. Indian Premier League
For 2.6 crores (about $430,000), Iyer was signed by the Delhi Daredevils in February 2015 during the 2015 Indian Premier League players auction. In November 2014, Iyer made his Mumbai List A debut while competing in the 2014–15 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In that competition, he scored 273 runs at an average of 54.60. In December 2014, Iyer debuted in first-class cricket as part of the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy. In his first Ranji season, he amassed 809 runs at an average of 50.56, with two centuries and six fifties. He finished seventh in the Ranji Trophy rankings for 2014–15.
International Career
In advance of the fourth Test match against Australia in March 2017, Iyer was added to the Indian Test team as a replacement for Virat Kohli. In the fourth test, he was brought on as a replacement fielder and outwitted Steve O’Keefe for eight runs. Iyer was included in the Indian Twenty20 International (T20I) team for their series against New Zealand in October 2017.
On November 1, 2017, he made his India T20I debut against New Zealand, although he did not bat. Iyer was included in the India One Day International (ODI) team roster for their series against Sri Lanka in November 2017. On December 10, 2017, he played his first-ever ODI for India against Sri Lanka. In the Mohali 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka, he struck 88 from 70 balls.
