Malik Willis Biography: American football quarterback Malik Antonio Willis (pronounced /məˈliːk/ mə-LEEK; born May 25, 1999) plays quarterback for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). Early life

For his final year of high school, Willis transferred from Westlake High School in Atlanta to Roswell High School in Roswell, Georgia. He ran for 1,033 yards and completed 2,562 yards of passing as a senior, scoring 37 touchdowns in total. He made a college football commitment to Auburn University.

College career

Willis participated in 15 games for Auburn during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. In those two years, he ran for 309 yards and two scores and completed 11 of 14 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. After a quarterback competition with Bo Nix in 2019, Willis transferred to Liberty University. Because of transfer regulations, he missed the whole season. He was selected to start at quarterback for the squad in 2020. He passed for six touchdowns and ran for another against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. Professional career

The Tennessee Titans selected Willis 86th overall in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Some predicted he would go as high as second overall in the draft, therefore he was seen as a surprise pick. On July 23, 2022, he signed a four-year rookie deal. After the Titans benched Ryan Tannehill in the third quarter of their Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills, Willis made his NFL debut. In the 41–7 defeat, he ran for 16 yards and completed one of his four passing attempts while throwing for six yards. Due to illness, Tannehill was benched in favor of Willis in Week 8 against the Houston Texans.

Willis finished 6 of 10 throw attempts for 55 yards and one interception in a 17–10 victory in his debut start. In Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Willis started for the second straight week in lieu of an injured Tannehill. In the 20–17 overtime loss, he completed 5 of his 16 passing attempts for 80 yards. Willis started in place of Tannehill in Week 16 against the Texans because the latter had worsened an ankle ailment. He completed 14 of 23 passes for 99 passing yards and two interceptions in the game, but the Titans were defeated 19–14.
