Madonna was born as Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958, in Bay City, Michigan. Her parents reared her as a Catholic, but her mother died of breast cancer when she was very young. Madonna was shocked by the catastrophe, but she strove to channel her injuries into her endeavors, which have resulted in her doing exceptionally well in her academic career. She taught at St. Fredrick’s and St. Andrew’s Catholic Primary Schools, as well as West Middle School. was a bit noisy in elementary school and always wanted the attention and adoration of her male classmates. Madonna Louise Ciccone was born August 16, 1958, in Bay City, Michigan, to Catholic parents Madonna Louise (née Fortin) and Silvio Anthony “Tony” Ciccone. Her father’s parents were Italian emigrants from Pacentro, while her mother was of French Canadian origin. Tony Ciccone was an optics engineer with Chrysler Defense and its successor, General Dynamics Land Systems, on military projects. Madonna’s family nicknamed her “Little Nonnie” since she shared her mother’s name. Her mother died from breast cancer on December 1, 1963. Madonna later chose Veronica as her confirmation name when she was confirmed in the Catholic Church in 1966.[8] She grew up in the Detroit suburbs of Pontiac and Avon Township (now Rochester Hills), with her two older brothers, Anthony and Martin, and three.
