Early and domestic career
Yadav, the son of a brick kiln owner, was reared in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, despite his birthplace being Unnao.[6] He disclosed in an interview that his father encouraged him to keep playing cricket and even brought him to a coach (Kapil Pandey). He aspired to be a left-arm seamer, taking inspiration from bowling legends Wasim Akram and Zaheer Khan. Despite his tiny build, his instructor was thrilled with the turn and variations he was inadvertently producing at the trials and insisted that he become a wrist-spin bowler. He began watching and following Shane Warne’s bowling videos after that, and he began to look up to him.
International career
Although Yadav was included in the Indian cricket team for the October 2014 match against the West Indies, he did not play in any of the games. He was included in the Test team of India for their one-off match against Bangladesh in February 2017.On March 25, 2017, at the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, he made his Test debut for India against Australia, capturing four wickets in the opening innings. Yadav is the first left-arm wrist spin bowler to play in Test cricket for the Indian national side. In Test cricket, he is just the third bowler of that kind to claim four wickets in his first innings. Yadav was included in the Indian team for their limited overs tour of the West Indies in June 2017. He represented India in his first One Day International (ODI).
