On August 28, 1996, Salt was born in Bodelwyddan, Wales. He was a member of the North East Wales Under-11 cricket team when he started playing in St Asaph. After graduating from Chester High School, his family relocated to Barbados when he was eleven years old. He could therefore play for England or the West Indies because he satisfied the Barbados residence criterion. He played with future Sussex and England teammate Jofra Archer while he was in Barbados. At the age of 15, Salt went back to the UK and received a cricket scholarship to attend Reed’s School.
Domestic career
Salt was a Guildford Cricket Club player in 2013[8] before signing a contract to play for the Sussex Academy in 2014. In addition to playing for Brighton & Hove and a Sussex Cricket Board Development XI in the 2014 Sussex Cricket League Premier Division, Salt also participated in Second XI matches. Salt hit 200* from 129 balls against Horsham in the Sussex Premier League. He also struck 147* against the Preston Nomads and 51* from 33 balls against Roffey, the league’s eventual victors. He received the Player of the Month award in August 2014.

Salt did not participate in the one-off match against Pakistan in May 2019, but he was named to England’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad in lieu of an injured Dawid Malan. After the initial squad for the tour was forced to withdraw due to positive COVID-19 testing, Salt was named in England’s ODI squad for their series against Pakistan in July 2021, having trained with the group earlier in the summer.
