Marco Jansen, standing at 2.06 metres tall, initially pursued cricket as a batter despite his physique hinting at his potential as a fast bowler. Trained by his father, Koos, alongside his twin brother Duan in Potchefstroom, Jansen caught the eye of Virat Kohli with his bowling skills when he and his brother bowled to the Indian team during a net session at the age of 17. Jansen excelled as the leading wicket-taker for North West in the three-day provincial competition in 2019 and later joined South Africa’s Under-19 team for a tour of India. His promising performance led to his inclusion in South Africa’s Test squad for the Pakistan tour in 2021, followed by being signed by the Mumbai Indians for the IPL. Making his Test debut in the Boxing Day Test against India in 2021, Jansen also made history as the first player born in the 2000s to represent the national team.
