He is currently the manager of the Mexico national team. Aguirre represented Mexico in the 1986 World Cup and is managing the national team for the third time, having previously led them to the World Cup in 2002 and 2010. He also won the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup and guided the team to the final of the 2001 Copa América. His coaching career includes stints with Japan and Egypt.
