Professional Career

Hughie Fury turned professional at 18, shortly after winning a gold medal at the Youth World Amateur Championships. He made his pro debut on March 22, 2013, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, fighting on the undercard of Stevenson-Boon II against 34-year-old David Whittom, whom he defeated by knockout in the second round. A month later, he fought again at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City on the undercard of his cousin Tyson Fury’s match against Steve Cunningham, where he stopped American Alex Rozman in the first round.

Fury then competed in the UK for the first time in May, earning a points decision victory against Ugandan Moses Matovu at City Hall in Belfast, with the referee scoring the fight 40–36 in his favor. Just ten days after that, he traveled to Romania for an unsanctioned match at Sala Olympia in Timișoara, where he defeated Janos Finfera. In June, Fury fought twice, achieving a technical knockout against Ladislav Kovarik and a points victory over Tomas Mrazek, winning 60–54. He continued his momentum in July with two more victories, first beating 39-year-old Ivica Perkovic and then winning by points against Moses Matovu for the second time.
