Lovlina Borgohain Biography- Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain was born on October 2, 1997. She became just the third Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal when she took home a bronze in the women’s welterweight division at the 2020 Games. Tokyo 2021 was supposed to be quiet for her. It wasn’t. She walked in without much noise and walked out with the whole country watching. The year after? Messy. Hard. One major gold at the Asian Championships and a forced jump from 69kg to 76kg because Paris wouldn’t accommodate her old weight. Not exactly ideal timing. But she adjusted. Quickly. First big test in the new category—World Championships 2023—gold. A few months later, Asian Games—silver. No excuses, no fuss, just results stacking up.
Lovlina Borgohain Biography
With medals at the Olympics, the world and the Asian championships, all in a span of just a few years, Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. The journey from a small village to international podiums, however, took the young boxer much more than four years. However, Lovlina Borgohain found her true calling in boxing. While attending a Sports Authority of India (SAI) boxing trial at her school in 2012, Lovlina Borgohain’s talent caught the eyes of Padum Boro, who eventually became her childhood coach. “I took a few tests of her like punching bag, fast punching and she did well on those parameters. I thought she could be made into a boxer,” Padum Boro recalled during an interview with Olympics.com.
