Harmanpreet Kaur, born on 8 March 1989, is an Indian cricketer who captains the India women’s national cricket team across all formats. She is the captain of Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League, playing as an all-rounder. Harmanpreet Kaur received the Arjuna Award for Cricket in 2017 from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. In November 2018, she achieved the milestone of being the first Indian woman to score a century in a Women’s Twenty20 International match. She holds the record as the only Indian female cricketer with over 3,000 runs in T20Is and one of just three Indian women to exceed 3,000 runs in Women’s One Day Internationals. Controversies • While playing against Hobart Hurricanes in Women’s Big Bash League 2017, she had been charged for breaching the Cricket Australia code of conduct article 2.1.2; abuse of cricket equipment.

• On 25 July 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) banned her for two international matches for two separate breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third match of the ICC Women’s Championship series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on 22 July 2023. After her dismissal in the match, she smashed wickets and termed the umpiring ‘pathetic.’ The ICC also fined 75 percent of her match fee. According to the ICC, Kaur admitted to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision” and “public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match” and that she accepted her punishment.
