Early life

Jessica and Corey Van Lith welcomed Van Lith into the world in Wenatchee, Washington. Her parents are in the custom home building business, and her father was a baseball and basketball player at the University of Puget Sound. Tanner, her brother, was a Big Bend Community College baseball player. Van Lith was trained by her father four or five evenings a week, and she played basketball under his tutelage growing up. She took influence for her style of play from Seattle Storm players Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart in addition to Diana Taurasi. Coach Steve Klees oversaw Van Lith’s participation in the Northwest Blazers Amateur Athletic Union program. High school career

Under head coach Brent Darnell, Van Lith played four years of basketball at Cashmere High School in Cashmere, Washington. In her first game, she scored 14 points in a victory over Ellensburg High School on November 30, 2016. Van Lith guided Cashmere to the Class 1A state championship game, where she overcame Mount Baker Senior High School 45–44 with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and seven steals. Her team had a 26–1 record at the end of the season. She was named to the Associated Press (AP) Class 1A All-State first team as a freshman after averaging 24.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.8 steals per contest. With the loss of three starters in her second campaign, Van Lith took on a bigger responsibility.

In an 89-34 victory over Chelan High School on January 25, 2018, she recorded the first quadruple-double in program history with 37 points, 14 steals, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Her squad advanced to the Class 1A state championship game, but Lynden Christian School defeated them. Van Lith was selected the AP Class 1A Player of the Year after a sophomore season in which he averaged 32 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.3 steals, and 5.2 assists per game.

College career

During her rookie season, Van Lith started at point guard for Louisville. In her first game as a college student, on November 25, 2020, she scored 13 points and pulled down 8 rebounds in a 74–53 victory over Southeast Missouri State. Van Lith earned a season-high 24 points, five rebounds, and four steals in a 65–53 victory over Wake Forest on March 5, 2021, in the ACC tournament quarterfinals. She assisted the Cardinals in finishing in second place, earning her a spot on the All-ACC tournament first team. Van Lith was selected to the ACC All-Freshman Team as a rookie after averaging 11.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. She assisted Louisville in winning the ACC regular season championship and making it to the NCAA tournament’s Elite Eight in 2021.

Van Lith won a gold medal while playing for the United States at the 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup in Belarus. Over her 13.6 minutes per game in the competition, she averaged five points and two assists.[58] Van Lith helped the United States capture the gold medal at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup in Thailand.
