Early life

Puerto Rican parents gave birth to Garcia in North Philadelphia. Both his father and mother were from Naguabo and Bayamón, respectively. When he was 10 years old—the youngest age at which a minor was legally permit to train—his father, Ángel, who was also a fighter, took him to Philadelphia’s Harrowgate Boxing Club for his boxing education. Danny’s main boxing coach ever since has been Ángel.
