Andrea Jenkyns Biography – Dame Andrea Marie Jenkyns DBE born June 16, 1974 is a British politician who represented Morley and Outwood as a Member of Parliament from 2015 to 2025. Jenkyns was elected as the Conservative MP for Morley and Outwood in West Yorkshire during the 2015 general election, defeating Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls. She was a vocal supporter of the Eurosceptic organization Leave Means Leave and was critical of Theresa May’s approach to Brexit while she led the Conservative Party. Jenkyns served as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Skills from July to October 2022, until she was dismissed by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. She was unsuccessful in her bid for re-election in the newly formed seat of Leeds South West and Morley in the 2025 general election.

Early Life and Career
Andrea Jenkyns was born in Beverley, Humberside. After leaving school at 16, she worked at a Greggs bakery. At 18, her father submitted her photo to a beauty pageant, leading her to reach the finals of Miss UK. In her late thirties, Jenkyns pursued degrees in Economics from the Open University and International Relations from the University of Lincoln. She is also a former member of Lincolnshire County Council, representing Boston North West.

Parliamentary Career
Andrea Jenkyns was selected as the Conservative candidate for the Morley and Outwood parliamentary seat after an open primary in 2013. She won the seat in the 2015 general election with a narrow majority of 422 votes, unseating Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls. From July 2015, she served on the Health Select Committee. Jenkyns supported Brexit during the 2016 EU membership referendum and was a member of the Exiting the European Union Select Committee from 2016 to 2019. She indicated that she would consider voting against the government if the Chequers plan on Brexit was presented in the House of Commons.
In the 2017 general election, Jenkyns increased her vote share by 11.8%, raising her majority to 2,104 votes, despite Labour’s share also growing. This was aided by the absence of a UKIP candidate in her constituency. She is a Trustee and voluntary Regional Representative for the charity MRSA Action UK, having joined after her father’s death from MRSA. In May 2018, she resigned from her position as a Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to focus on advocating for Brexit.

Personal Life
Jenkyns lives in Gildersome, West Yorkshire, and London. She was married to fellow former Conservative MP Jack Lopresti, with whom she has a son born in 2017. They married in St Mary Undercroft in the Palace of Westminster on December 22, 2017, after it was reported she had been in a relationship with him while he was still married to his first wife. In March 2025, she disclosed to GB News that she had received abusive emails, including threats against her six-year-old son, prompting police advice on security measures.
She announced her divorce from Lopresti in April 2025. Jenkyns suffers from fibromyalgia and glossopharyngeal neuralgia, which cause severe pain. She is neurodivergent and has ADHD. A vegetarian, she advocates for animal rights and supports the ban on fox hunting. In 2015, her dogs Lady and Godiva won top prize at the Westminster Dog of the Year show.
