Amber Heard Latest News
Amber Heard lost her appeal in a case where she claimed that New York Marine & General Insurance Co. had breached its duty to defend her in the defamation lawsuit brought by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Heard argued that the insurer had violated its policy by not appointing independent counsel. However, the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit rejected this claim in an unpublished opinion issued on Monday.
The court ruled that New York Marine was not required by the terms of the policy to cover the cost of independent counsel. It also found that the insurer had met its obligation to defend Heard by continuing to work with the law firm that she initially retained, Cameron McEvoy PLLC. Additionally, Heard’s claim that the insurer had breached an implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing was also dismissed. The court determined that her allegations did not show that the insurer had withheld benefits that were due under the policy.

Early Life
Amber Heard was born in Austin, Texas, on April 22, 1986, the middle child of three daughters. Her mother, Patricia Paige (née Parsons), was an internet researcher, and her father, David Clinton Heard, owned a construction company. The family lived outside Austin, where Heard’s father also trained horses in his spare time. She grew up riding horses, hunting, and fishing with him. Heard participated in beauty pageants during her youth, but as an adult, she distanced herself from that experience, stating she no longer supported the objectification associated with them.
Raised Catholic, Heard began identifying as an atheist at sixteen after the death of her best friend in a car accident. The following year, dissatisfied with her conservative upbringing in Texas, she dropped out of Catholic high school to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles. She later completed her high school education through a home-study program.

Personal life
Amber Heard publicly came out as bisexual in 2010, stating, “I don’t label myself one way or another – I have had successful relationships with men and now a woman. I love who I love; it’s the person that matters.” Heard was in a relationship with photographer Tasya van Ree from 2008 to 2012. During their time together, Heard legally changed her last name to van Ree but reverted to her birth name in 2014. In 2009, Heard was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport after allegedly hitting van Ree. The case was brought to court, but no charges were filed. The incident became public in 2016 during Heard’s divorce from Johnny Depp. In response, van Ree issued a statement through Heard’s publicist, clarifying that the arrest was a “misunderstanding” and that it had been “over-sensationalized.”

Amber Heard’s Net Worth
Amber Heard’s net worth in 2024 is estimated to be around $500,000. This is a significant decrease from her previous wealth, which was once in the millions. Her financial decline is largely attributed to the costly legal battles she faced, especially the defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, which resulted in a substantial financial settlement. Additionally, she was involved in a lawsuit related to the film London Fields, which did not perform well commercially or critically. Despite these setbacks, Heard continues to earn income from her acting career, as well as brand endorsements, particularly in the beauty and jewelry sectors. However, much of her past wealth has been impacted by legal fees and settlements.
