John Krasinski Early Life
John Krasinski was born on October 20, 1979, in Newton, Massachusetts, the youngest of three boys to Mary Clare, a nurse, and Ronald Krasinski, an internist. His mother is of Irish descent, while his father is of Polish ancestry. Krasinski grew up in a Catholic household. His acting career began in middle school when he played Daddy Warbucks in Annie. In high school, he co-starred in a satirical play written by his future The Office co-star, B.J. Novak. Krasinski and Novak both graduated from Newton South High School in 1997.
Before attending college, Krasinski spent six months in Costa Rica teaching English as a foreign language. During this time, he saved a woman from drowning, an experience he credited to lessons learned from his mother, who was a lifeguard. Krasinski later attended Brown University, where he studied English and playwriting, graduating in 2001. At Brown, he was a member of the comedy group Out of Bounds and also coached youth basketball. He further honed his craft at the National Theater Institute in Waterford, Connecticut.
