Halsall grew up in Walkden, Salford, and attended Walkden High School. Halsall has been a part of Coronation Street since November 1998. Before his iconic role as Tyrone Dobbs, he appeared in several television shows, including Children’s Ward, Heartbeat, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, and Queer As Folk (1999). He also featured in the CITV four-part series Matt’s Million.
In 2013, Halsall won the National Television Award for Outstanding Serial Drama Performance for his work on Coronation Street. That same year, he received a British Soap Award for Best Actor, and was nominated for Best On-Screen Partnership, which he shared with Jennie McAlpine.
