Jerome began his basketball journey at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York, where he played during middle school. He then attended Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, New York, where he played varsity basketball for all four years. After a standout junior season, he earned first-team All-Conference, All-Metropolitan, and All-State honors. Unfortunately, a hip injury shortened his senior year. On September 2, 2014, he committed to play college basketball for the University of Virginia.
College Career
As a freshman at the University of Virginia, Ty Jerome served as the backup point guard to London Perrantes. In a limited role off the bench, he averaged 4.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Jerome stepped into a starting role during his sophomore season, becoming the Cavaliers’ primary point guard. On December 30, 2017, he recorded a career-high 31 points in a game against Boston College. His strong performance throughout the season earned him a spot on the All-ACC Third Team.
