PTI reported that an individual accused in the brutal murder of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan in 2013 was shot by unidentified attackers in Lahore. He was convicted of terrorism and espionage by a Pakistani court for his involvement in bomb attacks in Lahore and Faisalabad in 1990 that resulted in the deaths of 14 people. Despite India’s claims that he was a farmer who accidentally crossed into Pakistan three months after the bombings, he was sentenced to death in 1991 after a trial in the Lahore High Court. Baljinder asserted that Singh was the third eldest among ten siblings and that Dalbir was not their sibling but had known Singh since 1989. According to Baljinder, Dalbir had promised to work towards Sarabjit’s release under certain terms, but eventually sidelined Singh’s real siblings, Charanjit and Harbhajan, during his funeral rites.
