PTI reported that an individual accused in the brutal murder of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan in 2013 was shot by unidentified attackers in Lahore. Amir Sarfaraz Tamba, a close aide of Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, was fatally shot by assailants on motorcycles in Lahore’s Islampura neighborhood. He was immediately taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later passed away due to his injuries. Sarabjit Singh, who lived in Bhikhiwind near the Indo-Pakistani border in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, was arrested by Pakistani border guards in 1990 while intoxicated. His wife stated that he had gone to work on his fields close to the Wagah border but did not come back.

Initially, Sarabjit faced charges for unlawfully entering Pakistan. Subsequently, he was implicated in four bombings in Faisalabad and Lahore, resulting in the deaths of 14 individuals. The decision was later affirmed by a higher court, and his pleas for clemency were denied by the Supreme Court. Swapandeep Kaur, the daughter of Sarabjit Singh, expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of her father’s murderer’s killing in Pakistan, claiming that it did not constitute justice. She suspects the involvement of the Pakistan government in the murder as a means to conceal the conspiracy surrounding her father’s death.

Pakistani officials mentioned in the same year that Sarabjit might be released as part of a prisoner swap with India. On the other hand, Baljinder Kaur claimed to be Singh’s real sister and disputed Dalbir’s connection to him. Baljinder asserted that Singh was the third eldest among ten siblings and that Dalbir was not their sibling but had known Singh since 1989.
