Mona Singh Biography: Actress Mona Singh was born in India on October 8, 1981, and has appeared in several Hindi movies and TV shows. She rose to popularity in the 2000s when she played the title character in the soap opera series Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin (2003–06). Singh described how the show not only catapulted her into the spotlight but also earned her an enormous salary that astounded her. In an open conversation with Entertainment Live, Singh reflected on her experience and the two years of auditioning she went through to get the part that would eventually define her career. Remarkably, Sony TV, who were greatly impressed with her audition tape, directly recruited her instead of the production company.

Shortly after the episode debuted, Singh received a startling disclosure from the broadcaster regarding her compensation agreement. When she found out she would be getting paid Rs 1.5 lakhs a month, an incredible amount for her at the time, she expressed her surprise. With the legendary and phenomenally successful soap opera Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin (2003–06) on Sony Entertainment Television, Singh made her television debut in Hindi. There, she became well-known for her portrayal of the earnest, perceptive, and innocent Jasmeet “Jassi” Walia, a role she played for three years in a row. She gained widespread recognition with the show and received numerous honors from events like the Indian Telly Awards, Apsara Awards, and Indian Television Academy Awards. She won Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 1 in 2006 after competing in the reality show. Following her involvement in and victory in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena in 2008, she hosted Femina Miss India and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 in 2007.

After that, Singh worked with Ekta Kapoor’s production company Balaji Telefilms on NDTV Imagine’s Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, where she played Raunaq Makhija from 2008 to 2009. This was the first of Singh’s four consecutive fiction program collaborations. Her concentration shifted to primarily presenting and non-fiction shows; she participated in Meethi Choori No. 1 (2010) and hosted Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2009), Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 (2010), Shaadi 3 Crore Ki (2010), Star Ya Rockstar (2011), and CID Veerta Awards (2012). She went back to fiction television in 2012 when she appeared in Sony Entertainment Television’s Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, which was produced by Kapoor.
