Career
As the flag bearer for his nation during the opening ceremonies in 2008 and 2012, López has represented Cuba at the Summer Olympics in Athens, Beijing, and London in 2004, 2008, and 2012. He placed first in the men’s Greco-Roman 120 kg division in both contests. In the 130 kg division at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Lopez took home the gold medal.
