Early Life

From Costa Mesa, California, Hernandez was born on June 9, 2000. Her parents, Anthony and Wanda Hernandez, are Puerto Rican. She is their daughter. Growing up, she went to Abeka Academy High School in Old Bridge, New Jersey, together with her siblings, Marcus and Jelysa. She took an early interest in gymnastics and became proficient in the art form quite soon.

Career

When Hernandez finished 11th in the juvenile division at the 2012 U.S. Classic, her gymnastics career officially began at the tender age of twelve. She qualified for and finished 21st at the National Championships in St. Louis as a result of her competitive achievement. At the 2013 WOGA Classic, she took home the silver medal. Following a few months, she participated in the American Classica in Huntsville, Texas, where she finished first in the floor exercise, second in the competition’s all-around, and third in the vault and balancing beam events. Later, she was added to the junior national team of the United States, and she traveled to Chicago to participate in the U.S. Classic. In the floor exercise competition, she took first place overall.

In August 2013, she took home the silver medal in the junior all-around discipline at the National Championships. She was chosen to compete for the United States in the September Junior Japan International in Yokohama, where she finished third. She then went on to compete with a team of three other girls at the International Junior Mexican Cup. In the team competition, they came in first.
