Early Life
Shipka was born in Chicago, Illinois, to John Young Shipka, a real estate developer, and Erin Ann Brennan. She began taking ballroom dance lessons at the age of five, continuing with the classes into her teenage years. When Shipka was six, her family moved to Los Angeles to support her budding acting career.
