Katelyn Ohashi Biography, Katelyn Michelle Ohashi (born April 12, 1997) is an American gymnast who competed for the University of California at Los Angeles. She is a six-time All-American, a four-time member of the USA Gymnastics Junior National Team, the 2011 junior national champion, and the 2013 American Cup winner. She is known for combining popular dance elements into her floor routines, and in January 2019, she trended globally on multiple social media networks after her perfect 10 score at the 2019 Collegiate Challenge, her fourth perfect 10 floor performance of her career.

Katelyn Ohashi retired from gymnastics in 2019 and currently works as a social media star, collaborating with brands, writing and photographing, and participating in the charity Project Heal. Ohashi, a ten-time UCLA All-American and 2013 American Cup all-around winner, rose to national prominence in 2019 after scoring a perfect 10 on her collegiate floor routine. The gymnast graduated later that year, and while she no longer competes, she remains connected in the sport in a variety of ways. In 2021, the UCLA graduate accompanied Simon Biles on her Gold Over America Tour, a gymnastics-themed touring show that mixed athletics and entertainment to inspire future generations of female athletes. The Gold Over America Tour performed 34 concerts.

Early life and Education

Ohashi was born in Seattle, Washington, to Richard and Diana Ohashi, a former high school gymnast. She has three older brothers, Ryan, Kyle, and Kalen, and is of German and Japanese origin.Ohashi started gymnastics at the age of three. Ohashi, her mother, and her youngest brother, Kalen, relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, in 2006, and then to Plano, Texas, three years later, to support her gymnastic training. She went to Spring Creek Academy before graduating from Plano Senior High School in 2015. enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles in the fall of 2015 and graduated in 2019. She majored in gender studies.

Gymnastics career

Ohashi began her training career with Al Fong at Great American Gymnastics Express (GAGE) in Blue Springs, Missouri. Ohashi made her national gymnastics debut at the 2009 Junior Olympic National Championships, where she won the floor exercise, tied for second on uneven bars, finished fourth in the all-around, and tied for seventh on the vault. She competed in her first elite meet, the 2009 U.S. Classic in Des Moines, Iowa, where she finished fourth in the junior division on floor, tied for fifth on balance beam, and ninth in the all-around. This qualified her to the National Championships in Dallas, where she won the silver medal on floor, placed sixth on beam, finished.
