Early Life
Mills was born with Achondroplasia, a common form of dwarfism. She was raised in Loggerheads, Staffordshire, and as of 2021, resides in London. Mills began her dance training at the Jill Clewes Dance School in Bradwell. Staffordshire, and made her acting debut in a production of Oliver! at the age of nine. She attended Madeley High School in Madeley, Staffordshire, before furthering her education at the Urdang Academy in Islington, London, and the Academy of Theatre Arts in Worcester.

Francesca Mills joined Warwick Davis’s Reduced Height Theatre Company for its inaugural production, a revival of See How They Run at the Richmond Theatre. In 2017, she received an Ian Charleson Award nomination for her portrayal of Maria in The Government Inspector at Birmingham Repertory Theatre. That same year, she played a seamstress in the Timothy Sheader-directed production of A Tale of Two Cities at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
In 2019, Mills took on multiple roles in The American Clock at The Old Vic and was part of the national tour of Emma Rice’s version of Malory Towers musical. Between 2018 and 2019, she starred as Cherry Dorrington in series 2 and 3 of Harlots. Alongside Eloise Smyth and Samantha Morton, and played Earthy Mangold in Worzel Gummidge, co-starring with Mackenzie Crook.
