Demi Moore Biography
Demi Moore was born in 1962 in Roswell, New Mexico, to Charles Harmon and Virginia Guynes (née King). Her father abandoned her mother before Demi was born. Her stepfather, Danny Guynes, brought little stability to the family, frequently changing jobs and causing the family to relocate 40 times. The household was marked by constant drinking, arguments, and abuse, and Danny Guynes eventually took his own life. At 16, Demi dropped out of school to pursue a career as a pin-up girl. By 18, she married rock musician Freddy Moore, though the marriage lasted only four years. Soon after, at 19, she landed a regular role on the soap opera General Hospital (1963). During this period, she indulged in partying and cocaine use, which persisted for more than three years. Her drug use came to a head when director Joel Schumacher threatened.

Early Life
Moore was born in Roswell, New Mexico, on November 11, 1962. Her biological father, Air Force airman Charles Foster Harmon Sr., left her mother, Virginia (née King), shortly before her birth. Virginia later married Dan Guynes, a newspaper advertising salesman, and the family moved frequently. In 1967, Moore’s half-brother Morgan was born. Moore has said that her stepfather, Dan Guynes, was the man who raised her. Her biological father died in 1997 from liver cancer.
Moore’s mother had a troubled history, including multiple arrests for offenses such as drunk driving and arson. Moore severed ties with her mother in 1989 when Virginia left a rehab facility that Moore had paid for. The two reconciled shortly before Virginia’s death in 1998 from a brain tumor.
