Titmus won a bronze in the 400-meter freestyle event, finishing 2.29 seconds behind China’s Li Bingjie, and a silver in the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay, splitting a 2:00.13 for the lead-off leg of the relay to contribute to the final time of 8:05.43, at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, held in August in Hawaii, United States. placed 17th in the women’s 200-meter freestyle competition at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. took home three gold medals from the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the 400-meter freestyle, 800-meter freestyle, and 4 x 200-meter freestyle relay events. In the women’s short course 400-meter freestyle event at the 2018 FINA World Swimming Championships on December 14, 2018, Titmus broke the record set by Wang Jianjiahe two months earlier by 0.05 seconds and took home the gold medal. Early life
Raised in the sleepy town of Launceston, Tasmania, Ariarne Titmus and her younger sister Mia Titmus enjoyed an active upbringing filled with horseback riding and outdoor exploration. Both of her parents were involved in sports: Robyn Titmus was an athlete and Steve Titmus was a volleyball and cricket player. Ariarne Titmus took up swimming at an early age and competed against teams from nearby swimming clubs. She relocated to Queensland with her family in 2015 in order to take advantage of improved swimming conditions.

Ariarne Titmus Breakthrough and rivalry with Katie Ledecky
Her major breakthrough occurred during the World Championships in 2019. In the 400-meter freestyle, the Australian won gold, breaking Katie Ledecky’s six-year winning streak. Before leading Australia to the team win in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay, Titmus added silver in the 200m and bronze in the 800m freestyle events.
In one of the most eagerly awaited matches of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she defeated Ledecky once more.
