On May 30, 1985, Winget was born in Bombay, India (now known as Mumbai). She is the daughter of a Christian Maharashtrian father and a Punjabi mother. Because of her western first name, people frequently confuse her for someone who is not Indian.
Winget made her screen debut in the 1995 film Akele Hum Akele Tum, and she later played a schoolgirl in Rani Mukerji’s 1997 film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. She starred as Tanu in the 2000 movie Raja Ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya when she was fifteen years old. At eighteen, she had an appearance as a supporting character in the Indian film Kuch Naa Kaho. She went on to work in a number of Indian TV series after that. Winget’s breakthrough performance as the main character on television came from the series Karthika, in which she portrayed a struggling singer with aspirations of becoming famous.
Later, she starred in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, receiving accolades for her portrayal as Sneha, the heroine Shweta Tiwari’s daughter. She presented the second season of the show, Dekh India Dekh, and the comedy Laughter Ke Phatke, both in 2009 and 2010, after winning the former.
