Club Career
M’Vila began playing football at the age of six with ES Sains-Saint-Fussien. In 1999, he joined Amiens SC, the largest club in his region, where he trained in a football school founded by his father, a former reserve team player at the club. After five seasons, he moved to Paris to join Mantes and stayed with his grandparents during his time there. M’Vila later admitted that he had lost sight of his dream to become a professional footballer during this period.
That changed in October 2004 when a scout from Rennes discovered him. He quickly signed a youth contract with Rennes and joined their highly regarded academy the following month. At Rennes, M’Vila trained alongside promising talents such as Damien Le Tallec, Yohann Lasimant, Abdoul Camara, and Yacine Brahimi.
