Early Life
Vivek Sagar Prasad was born in the Madhya Pradesh village of Shivnagar Chandon, close to the town of Itarsi. He enjoyed playing chess, badminton, and cricket when he was younger, and it was only by chance that he became interested in hockey during the 2010–11 school year when the local hockey coach offered to instruct students who wanted to try the sport. The young Prasad soon found that he was interested in hockey. He practiced in a small corner near his house even in his spare time, and within a few months, he was playing at a level higher than that of his school. Ashok Kumar (field hockey), the son of Indian legend Dhyan Chand and who scored the winning goal in the 1975 Hockey World Cup final, noticed him while he was playing at a local senior-level tournament in Akola in 2013.

The midfielder, who is 22 years old, is from Chandon Village, a village in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh. He became well-known in Indian hockey when Ashok Kumar, the son of former hockey great Dhyan Chand, saw him playing in a local tournament in Akola, Maharashtra. He was 13 years old at the time, and he was competing against and with players twice his age. Ashok Kumar was drawn to the youngster because he had impeccable ball control from a young age.
