However, he did not give up on his dream and made an incredible comeback in the Indian hockey circuit. Career
After short stretches with Indian Oil, Sindh Bank, and Punjab Police, he was chosen for the Punjab Public Bank group in 2017. Sukhjeet Singh was selected for the national team in 2018, but he was unable to play because of a back injury. During India’s match against Spain at the 2022–23 Men’s FIH Pro League, he made his debut for the Indian team. He played for India in the 2023 World Cup and scored three goals. He scored six goals in the tournament. He also participated in the Asian Games in 2022, where India won the gold medal. He has been chosen to represent India in the Men’s FIH Pro League in 2023–24. He was chosen for the Indian hockey team that will participate in the 2025 Paris Olympics in July.

Every time I felt like I wasn’t going to be able to play hockey again, my friends and family were there for me to encourage and support me. They always believed that I had the potential to one day cut for India.
Sukhjeet Singh Some Lesser Facts
In an interview, he mentioned that his father, a former hockey player for the Punjab Police, introduced him to the sport and taught him the fundamentals, saying, “My father had a big hockey stick.” When I was about four or five years old, my father cut that large stick and gave it to me.
When my father got home from work, he would take me to the ground to teach me how to play hockey.
Sukhjeet Singh enrolled in a Chandigarh hockey academy after receiving instruction in the fundamentals from his father.
There, he trained for seven years.
He was included on the list of potential India players in 2018. He missed the chance, however, as one of his nerves was pinched during the physiotherapy and acupuncture session, resulting in paralysis on the right side of his body.
Sukhjeet Singh had to continue receiving treatment for six months before he could stand upright.
