| Controversies | Complaint against the makers of his father’s biography
In 2016, Radha filed a complaint against the makers of the film Vangaveeti (2016) for distorting the image of his father. The movie was based on the life of Radha’s father, Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao, but in the film, the creators didn’t know about the order of events in his father’s life. It was clear that his father’s name was just used to make money. In the complaint, he also mentioned that Mohana Ranga Rao and his associates were depicted as thugs and killers. In 2017, there was tension in Moghalrajpuram, Vijayawada when supporters of Vangaveeti Radhakrishna clashed with the police who tried to stop Radha and his mother from going to Satyanarayanapuram and holding a press conference against derogatory remarks made by YSRC Trade Union leader P Goutham Reddy about the late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga. The protests were started when in an interview with a Telugu TV channel, Goutham Reddy compared Ranga to a snake and implied that his assassination in 1988 was inevitable. This upset Radhakrishna, who was a member of YSRC, and his mother. They left their home in Madhu Chowk, Moghalrajpuram, to hold a press conference at Food Junction in Satyanarayanapuram, which was close to Goutham Reddy’s house. Radhakrishna and his mother, Vangaveeti Ratnakumari, were arrested to prevent any unrest, but they were eventually released. Later, the YSRC declared Reddy’s suspension. His parents named their newborn son Vangaveeti Radha Krishna after Ranga’s brother, who was slain in 1974. In 1988, his father was sadly slain. His mother, Chennupati Ratna Kumari, was a major influence in his upbringing and is also a politician. The family is part of the Kapu caste, which is a well-known social class in the community.
His sister, Vangaveeti Asha Kiran, is his sister. On September 6, 2023, he wed Jakkam Pushpavalli of Narasapuram. Pushpavalli’s father, Babji, is a Jana Sena member, and she is the daughter of former municipal chairperson Jakkam Ammani of Narasapuram.
His Political Journey
A member of the Indian National Congress, Radha Krishna defeated BJP candidate Jagan Mohan Raju of Eleshwara in the 2004 assembly elections in the Vijayawada East Constituency.
