Nicholas Pooran, born on 2 October 1995, is a Trinidadian cricketer who is currently active in the West Indies cricket team for limited overs cricket. He serves as an occasional captain for limited overs formats and also participates in West Indian domestic matches for Trinidad and Tobago, as well as representing Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. Pooran debuted internationally for the West Indies in September 2016 and was appointed as the limited overs cricket captain for the West Indies in May 2022. However, he resigned from the position of limited overs captain for the West Indies team in November 2022.

Pooran, hailing from McBean, Couva, attended Naparima College in San Fernando where he played cricket for the school team as a left-handed wicket-keeper/batsman. He started representing Trinidad and Tobago in various youth tournaments and made his under-19 national debut at the age of 16 in the 2012 regional tournament. Pooran made his debut for the West Indies under-19s against Bangladesh in October 2013 and participated in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup as the vice-captain and primary wicket-keeper. Scoring a total of 303 runs in six matches, he ranked fourth in total runs and topped the West Indies’ averages with notable performances against Canada, India, and Australia. His outstanding 143-run innings against Australia was acclaimed as one of the most remarkable innings under pressure in the history of the tournament. This innings was the highest ever under-19 ODI score against Australia, and his partnership of 136 runs with Jerome Jones set a record for all under-19 matches.
