At the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, Quadarella competed and took home the bronze in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle event. Simona Quadarella earned nine international medals in the two years from 2017 to 2018 (7 gold and 2 bronze), including three gold in the 400, 800, and 1500 m freestyle events at the 2018 European Aquatics Championships. This came after her worldwide explosion in 2017 at the age of 19. Then, at the World Championships in Gwangju in July 2019, Quadarella won her first world championship by winning the gold in the 1500 meters in a time of 15:40.89.
