Rinder was born in London into a Jewish family. His mother, Angela Cohen, serves as the chair of the 45 Aid Society. His maternal grandfather, Morris Malenicky, was a Holocaust survivor and one of the “Windermere children”—a group of young Holocaust survivors brought to the UK after World War II.

Raised in Southgate, North London, Rinder attended Osidge Primary School and Queen Elizabeth’s School in Barnet. He soon focused his practice on complex financial crime, including international fraud, money laundering, and corruption cases. Notably, Rinder played roles in the prosecutions following the 2003 drive-by shootings of Leticia Shakespeare and Charlene Ellis, and in the defence of British military personnel charged with manslaughter relating to the deaths of detainees in Iraq.

Since 2010, he has also been involved in the investigation and prosecution of alleged bribery and corruption in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean.
