Early Life
Pascal was born in Santiago, Chile, to child psychologist Verónica Pascal Ureta and fertility doctor José Balmaceda Riera, a member of the Castilian-Basque aristocracy. His paternal grandmother was born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Pascal has an older sister, Javiera, a younger brother, Nicolás, and a younger sister, Lux, who is an actress and transgender activist. Pascal’s mother was a cousin of Andrés Pascal Allende, the nephew of Salvador Allende, the former socialist President of Chile. In 1973, the Allende government was overthrown by General Augusto Pinochet, leading to a military dictatorship.
Pascal’s parents were targeted by the Pinochet regime, and when he was just nine months old, the family fled Chile after taking refuge in the Venezuelan embassy in Santiago for six months. They later received political asylum in Denmark and eventually settled in the United States. Pascal grew up in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Orange County, California, at the age of 11.
