Patrick James Cummins, born on 8 May 1993, is an Australian cricketer who leads the Australia men’s national cricket team in Test and One Day International cricket. Regarded as an exceptional fast bowler in Test cricket and one of the top fast bowlers of his era, he guided Australia to victories in the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship and the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. Cummins is also recognized for his skills as a lower-order batsman. Additionally, he was part of the Australian squads that won the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, and served as the winning captain of the 2021–23 ICC World Test Championship and the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. Making his Test debut at 18 in 2011, Cummins faced setbacks due to injuries, returning to international cricket in 2015 and Test cricket in 2018. Following the 2018–19 home cricket season, he was honored with the Allan Border Medal for being the best performing Australian cricketer of the year and was a nominee for ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year in 2019.

Despite his lack of experience as a senior T20 captain, Cummins became the second Australian to lead SRH, following David Warner.
