Early Life
Parvati was born on September 21, 1982, in Vero Beach, Florida. She has three siblings, and her family relocated to Marietta, Georgia when she was 11 years old. Raised in a “hippie” commune practicing Hinduism, her name, Parvati, reflects her Hindu upbringing. Shallow graduated from Sprayberry High School and attended the University of Georgia, where she was part of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. In 2004, Shallow began boxing and, alongside some fellow boxers, co-founded a nonprofit organization called Knockouts for Girls, which provides scholarships and boxing lessons to underprivileged girls.
Personal Life
Parvati Shallow and fellow Survivor contestant Amanda Kimmel appeared in the movie Into the Blue 2. Shallow also hosted the third season of the web series Around the World For Free, which premiered on July 5, 2011. In 2014, Shallow began dating Survivor: Samoa alum John Fincher. The couple got engaged in January 2017 and married on July 16, 2017. They welcomed a daughter in July 2018. However, in August 2021, Shallow filed for divorce after four years of marriage.
It was later reported that she had obtained a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Fincher, and the divorce was finalized sometime after. Shallow currently resides in Los Angeles, California, and works as a yoga teacher. In 2020, she co-authored a children’s book on mindfulness titled Om the Otter. On December 30, 2023, Shallow publicly came out as queer in an Instagram post and shared that she is in a relationship with nonbinary comedian and writer Mae Martin.
