Manisha Koirala Biography: Manisha Koirala, pronounced [mʌˈnisa ˈkoirala]; born in Nepal on August 16, 1970, is an actress that primarily works in Hindi and Tamil films in India. She is well-known for her contributions to independent and commercial film, and she has won multiple awards, including three Filmfare Awards and one Filmfare Award South. She was given the Order of Gorkha Dakshina Bahu by the Nepali government in 2001.

Actress Manisha Koirala was born in Nepal on August 16, 1970. Although she has worked on several South Indian and Nepali movies, the majority of her appearances are in Hindi movies. One of the most well-known actors in India, Koirala is renowned for her talent. Her four Filmfare Awards are hers. Critics have pointed out that, in spite of his financial potential and the variety of box office receipts his films have brought in, his standing as an actor has not changed. She is among the select few actresses who has successfully balanced the interests of independent and mainstream (artist-driven) film. She resided in her grandmother’s Varanasi home and attended Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya through grade X. She was raised in the well-known Koirala family in politics. Her father is Prakash Koirala, and her grandmother is Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, a former prime minister of Nepal. After making her screen debut in the 1989 Nepali film Pheri Bhetaula, Koirala went on to star in the 1991 Hindi drama Saudagar. After a setback, she rose to prominence as a main actor in the romance dramas Bombay (1995) in Tamil and 1942: A Love Story (1994). Agni Sakshi (1996), Indian (1996), Gupt: The Hidden Truth (1997), Kachche Dhaage (1999), Mudhalvan (1999), Company (2002), and Ek Chhotisi Love Story (2002) were among her other commercial hits.

Life and career

In Biratnagar, Nepal, Manisha Koirala was born into the well-known Koirala family in politics. Her mother, Sushma Koirala, stays at home while her father, Prakash Koirala, is a politician, former Cabinet minister, and former member of Nepal’s House of Representatives. Siddharth Koirala, a former Bollywood actor, is her brother. Her grandfather, Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, and two of her great-uncles, Girija Prasad Koirala and Matrika Prasad Koirala, served as prime minister of Nepal from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. Several other members of her family also became politicians. Koirala was born and raised in India. She later resided in Delhi and Mumbai, after spending a few years at the home of her maternal grandmother in Varanasi.

She went to the Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya until Class X while she was living in Varanasi. In 1989, Koirala experimented with acting for the first time in the Nepali film Pheri Bhetaula during a break following her board exams. She relocated to Delhi with the goal of becoming a doctor, and she enrolled in the Army Public School (APS) at the Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi campus. She claimed in an interview that living alone in Delhi had made her “strong and independent.” Koirala took on a couple modeling jobs in Delhi before turning her attention to acting. This one was for a company that made wool. Koirala relocated to Mumbai in search of film opportunities, determined to pursue a career in acting.

Off-screen work

Koirala is a social worker who actively participates in the community. She works with organizations that support women’s rights, stop violence against women, and stop Nepali girls from being trafficked into prostitution. She was named a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador for India in September 1999. Koirala has supported the efforts of Indian poet-diplomat Abhay K in this area by arguing that the world needs an official Earth Anthem.

Following her treatment for cancer in May 2013, Koirala declared her intention to use her notoriety and life experience to encourage those facing the terrible illness. In her first interview after being diagnosed with cancer, she stated, “All I want to do from now on is to be useful to people who could need little advice.”
