Perkins was drafted 27th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, but he was immediately traded to the Boston Celtics along with Marcus Banks in exchange for Troy Bell and Dahntay Jones. During his second season, Perkins saw increased playing time and quickly gained a reputation as one of the Celtics’ toughest players.
