Born and raised in Sparta Township, New Jersey, James is the youngest of three brothers. He began wrestling at the age of four and continued to compete in the sport throughout his high school years at Sparta High School. After high school, Miller briefly pursued collegiate wrestling at Virginia Tech. Although he hadn’t originally planned to wrestle for the school, his competitive drive led him to walk onto the team later in the season. However, he eventually left the program due to “disagreements” with the coaching staff. Miller holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which he earned under the guidance of Jamie Cruz.
