Crockett was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School, as well as Rosati-Kain, an all-girls Catholic high school. She graduated from Rhodes College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. Initially, she aspired to become an anesthesiologist or a certified public accountant before deciding to pursue a law degree. This change was influenced by her experiences with a series of hate crimes during college, which led her to seek representation from the Cochran Law Firm. However, an investigation by the Tennessee Star revealed that neither Rhodes College nor the Cochran firm had records of these incidents.
