JAIPUR: In a significant restructuring of the police department, the state government transferred 75 IPS officers on Monday, including seven ADGs, 14 IGs, eight DIGs, 40 SPs, and six ASPs. The transfers occur ahead of the state elections later this year. Dinesh MN, who headed the team that apprehended criminal Anand Pal Singh and was later slain in an encounter, will become the new ADG (crime). He succeeds Ravi Prakash Meharda, who will take over as director general (civil rights and cybercrime) with promotion. Junga Srinivas Rao, who will take over as DG (training), was among those who received new assignments as a result of their elevation. Transfers of ADG-rank officers included Prashakha Mathur, who will assume command as ADG (police reformation and rules).

Jailed in Sohrabuddin- Tulsiram Prajapati Fake Encounter Case
In 2005, gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausar Bi, and associate Tulsi Prajapati were killed in an encounter in a joint operation between Rajasthan Police and Gujarat Police. Later, questions were raised about this encounter and cases were registered against many police officers calling it a fake encounter. In February 2007, Dinesh was arrested in the case following a report from DIG Rajnish Rai. After being jailed for seven years, he was granted bail in May 2014. He was acquitted of the case in August 2017 due to a lack of evidence. |
