Aubrey Christina Plaza was born on June 26, 1984, in Wilmington, Delaware. She is the eldest of three sisters, born to her parents, Bernadette and David Plaza, who were 19 and 20 at the time. They worked various jobs while attending night school to become an attorney and a financial advisor. Plaza was inspired by their determination, stating, “My parents are very ambitious and they came from nothing… They were hustlers, so I think I have that in my blood.” Her paternal grandfather emigrated from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, at the age of 17.
