Sentnor played college soccer for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels before being selected first overall by the Royals in the 2024 NWSL Draft. She represented the U.S. at various youth national team levels. Captaining the U-20 team to a bronze medal at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Following that achievement, she was named U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year.

Sentnor’s second-half strike sealed the win, doubling the US’s lead after Catarina Macario had opened the scoring with a well-executed team goal in the 33rd minute. After the match, Sentnor expressed her excitement, saying she was “over the moon” to score her first international goal — and to do so in such a spectacular fashion. The 21-year-old midfielder picked up the ball in space, drove toward goal, and unleashed a swerving shot into the net. Early Life and College Career
Sentnor grew up in Hanson, Massachusetts, on the South Shore. As the oldest of three children born to Richard and Lee Sentnor. She began playing soccer at the age of four, with her father coaching her first team. Her goal-scoring abilities as a child led her father to challenge her by placing her in goal or requiring her to score only with her non-dominant left foot, helping her develop versatility with both feet. Sentnor joined the South Shore Select soccer club at age six and also trained occasionally with the Boston Bolts boys’ team. Additionally, she played futsal, an indoor soccer variant. Which honed her skills in tight spaces. She joined the varsity team at Thayer Academy in eighth grade and graduated early in 2021.
North Carolina Tar Heels
Sentnor’s college career began with a setback when she tore her ACL just minutes into her first preseason game for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in 2021. She made her return to the field in 2022, marking her comeback by scoring in her debut match against Wilmington. In her redshirt freshman season, she played a key role in helping the Tar Heels win the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular-season title. Sentnor finished the season with ten goals, second-most on the team. And scored five of those goals during the NCAA tournament to help North Carolina reach the national title game. Where they were narrowly defeated by UCLA. She earned All-ACC first-team honors and was named to the national all-tournament team.
Club Career
Sentnor was selected first overall in the 2024 NWSL Draft by the Utah Royals. Marking their return to the league after a four-year hiatus. She and her North Carolina teammate, Savy King, were the top two picks. Sentnor signed a three-year contract with the Royals. She made her professional debut as a starter in the opening match of the season against the Chicago Red Stars on March 16. Just days later, on March 22, she scored her first professional goal. Striking from the edge of the penalty box after a long dribble in a 2–1 home victory over the North Carolina Courage.
Initially deployed as a winger, Sentnor contributed to five of her team’s first seven goals. By the end of June, she transitioned into a more playmaking role as an attacking midfielder. In July, she was named both NWSL Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month after leading the Royals to a group victory in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup, despite the team’s struggles in the regular season.
International Career
Sentnor was called up to train with the United States U-14 team at just 12 years old in June 2016. Making her the youngest player to attend the camp. By age 13, she had already scored five goals in two friendlies for the U-15 team in Germany in November 2017. She also played for the U-16s that year and was under consideration for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, but was not selected. In 2018, she was named the most valuable player of the Weifang Cup in China at the U-15 level.
As the youngest player on the U-18 team in 2019, Sentnor scored twice in two friendlies against England. She began 2020 with the U-17 team, but the CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship and the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
