Life and career

In Tergnier, in the department of Aisne, France, on August 19, 1994, Yseult Onguenet was born to parents from Cameroon. Early on, Onguenet recognized she had a gift for music, but her father forbade her from pursuing her career. As a result, Onguenet had to skip school to attend a Nouvelle Star audition in Paris. After auditioning and advancing through the competition since the show’s October 2013 airing, Yseult participated in the Nouvelle Star final in February 2014. She sang songs including “Roar,” “Feeling Good,” and “Wasting My Young Years” throughout her time on the competition. She faced off against Mathieu Saikaly, the season’s champion, in the final. Onguenet revealed that she was getting ready after the concert and signed with Polydor Records under the name Yseult.

Early Life

Yseult was born Iseut Auvray in the city of Bordeaux in 1995. From a young age, she was interested in music, with her parents introducing her to classical music and traditional French songs. She began writing her own songs at age 13 and soon after became part of a local hip hop collective.

Music Career

Yseult began her professional music career in 2015 when she released her first EP under the name Iseut. The five-track EP, titled ‘Une Autre Histoire’, showcased her lyrical abilities with its mix of rap and pop melodies.
